I am a lover and follower of Jesus Christ, a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, preacher, ordained American Baptist Pastor, retired, and a writer.
Sitting in my Study, with hot coffee, my Bible, and devotional reading, talking to the leader of my life, Jesus Christ, is how I prefer to begin the day. After a student pastorate in college, I invested my life in pastoral ministry in four churches over 42 years, most recently with First Baptist Church, Savoy, IL (Champaign-Urbana). Three schools shaped my life and ministry: Judson University, Elgin, IL (BA); Bethel Seminary, St. Paul, MN (MDiv); and Northern Seminary, Lombard, IL (DMin). I retired in the spring of 2015. I enjoy time with the love of my life, Mary. We’re active in our church, and I’ve turned my ministry passions to writing. Our two daughters and their husbands have given us 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. We love being grandparents!
Mary and I enjoy time with our family and our miniature dachshund, movies, and theater. I enjoy writing, reading, fishing, and ham radio. My passion is to worship and know the living God, be transformed by his son, Jesus Christ, make Jesus known to others, and serve God and others with the Holy Spirit’s energy and power.
